The AOC Minervois is located on the foothills of the Montagne Noire, straddling the Aude and Hérault rivers. It stretches nearly 60 km from the gates of Narbonne in the east to Carcassonne in the west, and from 50 m above sea level on the banks of the Canal du Midi to 350 meters in Cassagnoles. This appellation covers an area of 4,250 hectares and produces around 181,500 hectoliters per year.
The vineyard is located in a Mediterranean-type climatic zone, characterized by hot and dry summers, but remains protected from the north winds by the Montagne Noire. The soils are diverse and varied: stony soils, limestone and shale. The climate also varies in the AOC area: in the east, the Mediterranean climate is marked by sea winds laden with humidity; to the west, the affluence of the Atlantic makes itself felt, the center is characterized by a very dry climate which remains the hottest area of the vineyard.
